About us
Mars Analog is an English rock band hailing from South London.
Mars Analog material is unapologetically a mix of rocky and melodic pop, akin to poppy indie music of the 80's and 90's, with a heavy nod to the 60's and 70's.
Influences include: Pixies, Pearl Jam, Chameleons, The Church, PJ Harvey, Smashing Pumpkins, Suede, Dodgy, The Ramones, Guns & Roses, Nick Lowe, Ian Dury, Captain Beefheart, as well as the better-known classic acts like Radiohead, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Cure, Smiths, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, Crowded House, REM, Queens of the Stone Age and The Who.
Ostensibly, Andrew provides texture and elements of classic and metal lead guitar virtuosity over Tim's original chord structures, but in practice both guitarists interchange lead and rhythm duties constantly, producing a wide-ranging twin guitar sound. The guitars preside over a rock-solid rhythm section in seasoned players Matt and Toni. The connection between drums and bass in Mars Analog has been carefully nurtured to be entirely simpatico, and full of feel and humanity. Frontman Nick completes the picture with a powerful tenor singing style which has been described as classically pure, and elastic, with thoughtful, playful, sometimes nonsensical, occasionally provocative lyrics. Backed up by Tim and Matt providing harmony BV's.
Ephemera, our debut album, is out now on all music streaming platforms.
